THE ELIXIR is a journal of new writing published at University of the Sciences in Philadelphia. THE ELIXIR is published once a year, in the spring; we expect every issue to reflect our overall standards of literary excellence. We welcome unsolicited submissions of fiction, poetry, creative nonfiction, sci-fi/fantasy, short plays, interviews, book reviews, and artwork.

Submit work according to the following guidelines:
- Up to 5 poems
- Prose (fiction, creative nonfiction), up to 2500 words
- Novel excerpts (2500 word maximum)
- 10-minute plays (or excerpts of full-length plays)
- Interviews (2500 word maximum)
- Book reviews
- Artwork & Photography (please do NOT send originals)
We do not accept research papers, literary criticism, or scientific writing. We consider manuscripts from April 15 to January 15. All submissions sent after January 15 will be considered for the following year’s issue.
Expect three to five months for a decision. Simultaneous submissions are amenable as long as they are indicated as such and we are notified immediately upon acceptance elsewhere. Translations are welcome if permission has been granted. We cannot be responsible for delay, loss, or damage.
